Our Story
ArtPORT LA was born out of a lifetime-long passion for art, beauty and civic space.
Founder Cynthia Hirschhorn, a native Angeleno and environmental designer, has advocated for healthy, vibrant civic life through her work across multi-disciplinary projects, especially focusing on aligning resources for amplified impact at the civic scale.
Cynthia founded Unycyn Civic Arts, a non-profit dedicated to the art of being civic, and Civicas, a civic action leadership network. She has also served on several non-profit governing boards, including AltaSea and RiverLA, as well as the advisory board of UCLA’s Luskin Center for Innovation.
ArtPORT LA’s mission is rooted in engaging partnerships and resources to enhance beauty in public spaces at the Port of Los Angeles, while developing sustainable models for local and global audiences of all ages to experience art at the civic scale.
ArtPORT is a project of Unycyn Civic Arts, a 501c3 organization.
