Our Story
ArtPORT LA was born out of a lifetime-long passion for art, beauty and civic space.
Founder Cynthia Hirschhorn, a native Angeleno and environmental designer, has advocated for healthy, vibrant civic life through her work across multi-disciplinary projects, especially focusing on aligning resources for amplified impact at the civic scale.
Cynthia is the founder of Unycyn Civic Arts, a non-profit dedicated to the art of being civic, and Civicas, a civic action leadership network. She has also served on several non-profit governing boards, including AltaSea and RiverLA, as well as the advisory board of UCLA’s Luskin Center for Innovation.
Maureen Moore serves as Deputy Director. Her work meets at the intersection of arts management, programming and advocacy. She served as Associate Director of public programming for the Library Foundation of Los Angeles for over eight years, co-curating the ALOUD series and as producer of the exhibition “Visualizing Language: Oaxaca in LA” for PST: LA/LA. As Director of Operations for Art Quest International, she designed contemporary art experiences for museum groups nationwide and has also managed public art projects in the United States and Europe. A native Angeleno, Maureen is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
ArtPORT LA is a project of Unycyn Civic Arts, a registered 501c3 organization, whose mission is to encourage activities and promote education in the art of being civic, and the enhancement of civic space through programs, projects, and partnerships at any place in Los Angeles County.
